Quickly

I'm off tomorrow to Philly yet again, this time for the actual wedding. It'll be the first time I've been in a wedding party, and the first time I've been back to the exact town I mostly grew up in. I'm excited! I may even be meeting up with a group of other high school friends which if it happens will be the closest I ever come to a HS reunion. I'm already feeling wierd just about the possibility of seeing these 3 other people I haven't seen in so long. But the wedding will be the highlight of the trip and I can't wait. The past few weeks have been all about tanning (I know, I know, so horrible for your skin, but the bride will be super tan so I didn't want to look like a ghost next to her), dress alterations, nail appointments, and last-minute shopping for a bra that actually works with the dress style, so I am really ready to just get there and celebrate!

When I come back I'll share the bunny crack special papaya I use, and the fruit tart recipe. Promise!

Fruit tart

Last night's dessert - a fruit and cheesecake tart I made on a whim. Tasty, but a little too much almond extract in the cheesecake part. It was my first tart and now I'm eager to try more!

One year old

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear blo-og, Happy Birthday to you!

It looks like I actually missed the exact date by a few weeks, but I started 'two rabbits' in May 04, so we're in the ballpark at least. This is definitely one of the best little projects/hobbies I've ever gotten the notion to start.

My blog told me that in lieu of presents it would like everyone who reads to comment more. (Don't ask me, I'm just the messenger. . . but who could deny a blog it's only wish?!)

Crack rabbits

Uno and the wicker ball. He just loves it and is always chewing pieces off of it to munch on.

Such a cutie! (This is why his name is Uno.)

Uno and Autumn scrambling for bunny crack (dried papaya). They need their nightly fix before bed or they get very upset. Rabbits will do literally anything to get a piece of this stuff. If you have a bun and you've never given them papaya you have to go buy some right now (email me to find out about the really good stuff)!

Have to throw one in of my pretty girl standing out in the rain last night.

Seattle pics *Updated*

**Update - I've added photos and created a set which you can view here.

Pike Place market

Night view of the market from a second story bar right in the marketplace square. This photo is my favorite from the trip. (Which isn't saying much since my camera sucks and I'm no photographer, but I love the fish stand that's closed but still filled with ice and the lack of people - so different then how the market is all day, 7 days a week.)

Space Needle wine

Token Space Needle shot

Sneak peek at the gorgeous ceiling in the 5th Avenue Theater. (Can you see the dragon?)

Brand new library (will update with the architect later, I can't remember at the moment)

Waterfront

The trip was lovely and I wish I had better photos to reflect that.

More secrets

A while back I posted about this site of secrets. Now here is another site full of a different kind of secret - hidden art behind hotel room mirrors, artwork, headboards, and anything else that hangs on the wall creating a perfect secret canvas! Secret Wall Tattoos. I am going to be so tempted to do this the next time I'm in a hotel.

Pike me

Back from Seattle with barely a rain drop to be felt and I absolutely loved it! I think that either the weathermen are incredibly stupid (not likely) or the locals just don't want visitors so the whole rain thing is just a myth they created to keep people away from their beautiful city. I swear they predicted rain showers all three days and even when we would watch the news in the morning the weatherman would be saying "any minute. . . just you watch. . .the rain's a'coming any second. . . if I were you and I had an errand to run I'd do it right now or else you'll get drenched. . . " and then we would go all day and night touring the city with not a drop falling from the sky. No matter the cause, it was wonderful and we felt so lucky.

I wish I could wake up every morning and stroll down to Pike Place Market to shop for fresh groceries and flowers and sweets! That place is paradise, and this weekend it was even better because there was a cheese festival going on! Cheese! We have an outstanding market here in SF, but it's only out in full once a week and it's fairly upscale and not near as fun as Pike Place. We did all the other touristy things and our favorite was the Underground Tour in Pinoeer Square which was extremely interesting if your into history and stuff. Seattle burnt to the ground one time? Who knew!

Photos to follow tonight.

Hi

Remember this and this? A few months later and I've finally done something with them! If I got any slower with my projects lately it'd be Christmas before I had anything new to show. Although actually I thought this turned out so cute that I've already started felt animals for two more similar pieces. Doesn't this seem perfect for a nursury or something?

Look how gorgeous the glads are turning out to be?!?!

By the way, I leave this Friday to spend the weekend in Seattle on a little jaunt with my mom. If anyone has any suggestions for us please email me or leave a comment!

Flower Power

My mom is one of those flower nuts who just can't get enough fresh flowers. For Mother's Day I took her to the San Francisco Flower Market yesterday and this is what we came home with:

(This is the small table of the ones we recently refinished. Remember how I was complaining about the whole toxic process two weeks ago? Well it got worse and I swear refinishing furniture is such a bitch!)

This is the larger table that we did. After all the work they did turn ok so it was mostly worth it I guess!

Happy Mother's Day

My Mother's Day gift from Bella (yes, Bella's our dog) was this fabulous wire clip picture hanger! I have been wanting to make one of these for months, and I am in love with it! I know I'll be changing the things all the time which will be so much fun.

Meet Gizmo

This is my mom's little rabbit, Gizmo. When I adopted my two from the SPCA a while back I was able to eventually convince her to adopt one too.

We started a trend in adopting handicapped rabbits I think. The "awww" factor really goes up when you can say that your rabbit only has one eye because it was abused and left in a box on the side of the road with a ruptured cornea before someone brought it to the humane society and saved his life. Or even better - adopt a rabbit that is missing part of his back leg! See him hopping around happy as can be even though he has a little stump instead of a foot and you have to smile. (Uno is the one-eyed monster if you couldn't tell by the name, and Gizmo is the stumpy one.)

We have a play room for them separated by a little fence for now as they get to know one another.

All three are the cutest, softest, funniest little creatures on earth!
