Gifts for a friend's baby shower yesterday. I used those iron-on transfer sheets that work in the printer. They aren't the greatest by far but for little tees that the baby will make a mess of and grow out of almost instantly anyway they are good for a laugh and something a little different. You can only have so many Pooh onesies, right?

Last year I made a similar set of these for another friend.

fall love

Decorating for Halloween and Fall and as usual I am thinking I should leave this stuff up all year because I love it so much. First trip to the pumpkin patch is this weekend!

Today I received the best mail. An order from The Black Apple. I am completely in love with Emily's dreamworld of girls and critters and finally treated myself to some of her things - the little dunces and a sampler.

pets and FLOR mix well

The most creative thing I've done in the past week is install our new FLOR tiles for the living room. When we first moved in we bought some cheapo FLOR tiles from Lowes to make a runner in the hallway, not knowing what to expect or if we'd like them. The dogs make trying to find a suitable floor covering a total nightmare and nothing ever works on all counts. At least that was true before FLOR came into our lives. We love these tiles so much and while we wish we didn't have to sell our souls to get enough of them to make a rug in the living room, we are so psyched to have a good carpet/rug option that works equally well with our style and our pets. Moose and Bella started hogging the tiles before I could get them all down.

I have no connection to this company (though I am hoping they will feature Moose or Bella on their website!), I just like their stuff and wanted to share for any readers with pets. I think they try to promote the tiles as being pet-friendly but Greg and I both feel they could do a better job really playing up to pet people.

And a work-in-progress (WIP) for Friday that I never got around to posting. (Obviously I'm one of a million people who find Lisa's work extremely inspiring!)

WIP Friday

Let's get the only bit of crafting I've done out of the way first and then I can get to the house and dog blabber no one is really interested in. I bought this pretty letterpress hummingbird card and decided to frame it in this Ikea shadowbox frame so it could have some depth and get a nice little shadow around the edges. All I did was remove the mat and cover the back with nice textured dark blue paper, cut a wine cork in half and use a glue gun to secure it to the back of my card, then center the card+cork on the frame backing and glue into place. Too easy to really even call it crafting.

So I realize now the house will never be finished, but I took a huge step this weekend and actually had friends over - twice. So it's officially open for business and I'm trying to not freak out that every little thing isn't exactly how I want it to be. It's obvious that I need to be using our hot tub more to relax. Anyway, here are some glimpses. . .
