Happy Holidays

We're leaving shortly for the airport to spend the week in Florida visiting Greg's mom and our friends. "Grandma" is watching all the pets. The pic above is the closest we came to a white Christmas - happened earlier in the week when we did a trial run of leaving Moose alone in the bedroom for a few hours. He managed to get passed the sheets and mattress pad and put a hole in our thick down mattress topper thing spilling feathers all over the room. We had a great day today though and saw Jersey Boys on Saturday which was fantastic and are looking forward to relaxing down south until New Years even though it's in the freaking 80's right now in Tampa.

Happy Holidays!

vintage pink

Visited a little antiques store in the city this weekend and found these assorted gems. There is a handwritten label on the bottle of pink stuff that says "german glitter". So odd!

The silver glittered hummingbird is a separate purchase and not at all vintage, but still lovely.

This weekend I got around to thinking about our holiday cards and decided I wanted to take a family photo this year. I usually just feature one of the pets alone, and now I know why. It was a nightmare and in the end I had to go with a collage of photos in order to have everyone included. But now I have 10,000 blurry and/or crappy photos. Yay!

I went from all of us sitting on the bench in the front yard together, to Greg and I alone with a different dog each, to trying to get both dogs to jump up at the gate at the same time (this is our favorite thing that they do outside, one at a time they can jump up and see clearly over the tall front gate but naturally there was no getting them to do it together).

I think what I came up with in the end should look pretty cute. I wanted an old-timey black and white look. I'll share the final photos later. If anyone wants to swap cards though let me know! I love getting holiday cards in the mail.

Also, that sweater I mentioned I was making for the Merry Kitchmas party? Well it won me a whole stocking full of naughty prizes, so my glue gun has finally earned it's keep.

Happy Howlidays!

all that glitters

Here are the results of my holiday crafting so far. I'm starting off slow and I may just continue this way the whole month. I don't really have any big projects in mind for this year and the only thing I am stressed about is that I haven't done anything for holiday cards yet (except sign up for a card exchange of course). I usually do a photo of one of the pets, so I need to get moving on that one.

This is just a vintage photo I found online, printed and mounted to cardboard, glittered up, and with a silver garland and poinsettia ribbon finish. Three friends and I always have a little gift exchange and so this year I made one of these for each of us.

My mom was inspired by this wreath to make the one below (for $66 cheaper too).

All night I've been at work on my current project which is creating my own holiday sweater vest for a friend's Merry Kitchmas party. The theme of my vest is "Happy Howlidays" and I keep adding more and more crap to it with my glue gun. Really a fun project actually, I may have to find other reasons to make hideous but fabulous clothing items.

His other half

orange twins

Moose is a sweet boy, but now that his birthday is over I have to post these glimpses into his other (ie: still very much a puppy) side. A few days after he was neutered last week we had to leave him home alone for a couple of hours. We put on his no-bite collar so that he wouldn't mess with his incision. And came home to this!

we came home to this

In our bedroom he somehow managed to chew off his collar and make a mess of it, and then find my favorite pumpkin (this was before Thanksgiving - I still had all my pumpkins out; have you ever seen a double-pumpkin like that??) and use it as a chew-toy!

Luckily it didn't look like he'd even touched his incision (must have been really focused on the pumpkin!) so we were able to laugh about it. And now he's fully healed so everything is fine. He just likes to make sure we have enough excitement in our lives I guess.
